About Kat
Kat Arbour, PhD, CSCS, saw the need for comprehensive fitness training for figure skaters to reduce injuries and improve conditioning and performance. From this, she founded Ice Dynamics® in 1996, a conditioning program for skaters that fit the niche by blending her multifaceted background of exercise science (Masters), physical therapy (Masters) and biomechanics (PhD) with her first-hand experience of competitive figure skating where she holds Gold Test medals in Figures, Freestyle and Dance. Her combined academic education and figure skating knowledge gave her the necessary tools to conceptualize, develop and implement off-ice training programs aimed at peak performance for skaters at every competitive level, from beginner through elite. This Ice Dynamics® app is the next progression in making off-ice conditioning available to skaters everywhere. Over the years she has presented at national and international conferences and in 2006 won the Olympic Training Center’s Doc Councilman’s Coach of the Year award.
